Job Description:
At Bristol Myers Squibb, our employees often ask, “Who are you working for?”—a question that fuels collaboration, accountability, and urgency in our work. Our purpose-driven culture inspires us to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines to prevail over serious diseases. We offer uniquely interesting and meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits. This is work that transforms the lives of patients, and the careers of those who do it. Position Summary The Senior Director, Priority Digital Project Lead (3 openings are available) is the strategic leader and chief value architect for one or more assigned PDS Aim Points and the Priority Digital Projects (PDPs) that execute against them, accountable for translating enterprise intent into measurable, value-backed outcomes for PDS. This role owns the multi-year roadmap for its assigned Aim Point(s), leads cross-functional teams drawn from across PDS functions, and orchestrates cross-functional products that move each associated PDP from design into stage-gated delivery, ensuring products are adopted, compliant, and sustained in day-to-day operations. The leader will operate across a broad network of enterprise partners — which may include Global Quality, site Quality, CTDO, Manufacturing, MS&T, GBU, Regulatory (including Regulatory CMC), R&D, Global Supply Chain, GTS, Engineering, Finance, BI&T, Product Development, procurement and supplier interfaces, logistics, CoS, functional portfolio leads, site operations, and the broader Fusion/PDP ecosystem — depending on the specific Aim Point(s) and PDPs assigned. The role is accountable for aligning people, process, data, technology, and AI into a single execution system, and for connecting Aim Point and PDP goals with site- and function-level execution while keeping product investments anchored to business value, adoption, and sustained operating change. This role is accountable for executing against one or more PDS Aim Points, which may include: Cash Flow Optimization: enables digitally connected value chains that release working capital and improve gross margin every day, without compromising service or resilience. Revenue Acceleration: serves as the PDS Design and Launch Engine, making BMS always launch-ready through faster global market entry and scalable portfolio growth. Zero Disruptions: creates digitally orchestrated production networks that reduce disruptions and improve speed-in-market while balancing optimal working capital. Productivity & Decision Velocity: establishes a PDS decision engine that compresses decision cycles and automates business workflows to improve productivity. Patient Reliability: transitions PDS toward a fully predictive quality network that delivers 100% right-first-time and no adverse quality events. Execution happens through Priority Digital Projects (PDPs) — the critical-few digital transformation initiatives that PDS has prioritized for investment, governance, and executive sponsorship. A given PDP may align directly to one of the Aim Points above or may address another PDS priority that sits outside the Aim Point structure (for example, an enterprise-wide platform initiative). Key Responsibilities Cross-functional team leadership: Lead cross-functional teams drawn from across PDS functions to deliver the assigned Aim Point(s) and Priority Digital Projects, providing day-to-day direction, accountability, and coaching to Product Owners, Technical Leads, and delivery team members regardless of their reporting line. Aim Point and PDP outcome ownership: Own the roadmap for the assigned Aim Point(s) and ensure every Priority Digital Project, product, backlog, and stage-gate decision ladders to defined value outcomes (for example: cost, cash flow, speed, quality, productivity, or revenue, depending on the Aim Point or PDP in scope). Vision ownership and enterprise alignment: Own and evangelize the assigned Aim Point's vision and ensure product decisions ladder to PDS 2030, PDS digital strategy, and enterprise AI priorities. Portfolio strategy and sequencing: Define the critical-few roadmap, sequence work through execution waves, manage interdependencies with other Priority Digital Projects and non-Fusion work, and ensure stage-gate readiness for prototype, MVP, scale, and value realization decisions. Product leadership: Lead and align Product Owners across relevant PDS functions to ensure products are reusable, modular, adopted, and sustained in core business processes. Data, digital, and AI integration: Drive convergence of the source systems, data assets, domain knowledge, and AI or automation capabilities relevant to the assigned PDP, partnering with technical leads to ensure delivery integrity. Value realization and investment discipline: Partner with Finance to define baselines, benefit logic, and value-capture mechanisms, and champion measurable improvements in the outcomes most relevant to the assigned PDP. Cross-functional orchestration: Cut through silos, align sponsors and functional leaders, create clear escalation paths, and ensure site and functional voices are embedded as work moves from design to execution. Operating model maturity: Reinforce agile ways of working, clarify accountabilities across Fusion/PDP Team Leads, Product Owners, Technical Leads, advisory groups, and delivery teams, and help sunset analogue ways of working where digital-first operations are ready to scale. Change, adoption, and sustainment: Ensure products are not just built but utilized, with change management, communications, training, adoption metrics, and run-state ownership planned from the beginning. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred in life sciences, engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, regulatory affairs, data/analytics, digital transformation, or business. 10+ years of experience in biopharma operations, supply chain, manufacturing, product development, MS&T, regulatory CMC, quality, tech transfer, launch readiness, portfolio operations, digital product management, or enterprise transformation. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional, enterprise-visible initiatives where business process, data, technology, AI, governance, and adoption must come together to deliver measurable outcomes. Strong end-to-end value-chain fluency relevant to the assigned Priority Digital Project (for example: development, transfer, filing, launch, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, or portfolio interfaces). High digital and data fluency, with enough technical depth to challenge architecture, data model, automation, workflow, and AI/ML choices while partnering with technical leads for delivery integrity. Strong to exceptional executive influence, prioritization, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to drive trade-off decisions and alignment when enterprise and functional priorities conflict. Experience with agile product delivery, value-stream mapping, business case development, stage-gated investment governance, change management, adoption planning, and value tracking preferred.
