Job Description You'll set technical direction for a TypeScript frontend platform serving a large data-intensive engineering program. This is a hands-on role: you'll write code, own architecture, and raise the ceiling for a team of 6 engineers. Expect to work directly with backend, product, and end users.<h2>What you'll do</h2><ul><li>Co-own architecture for a React/TypeScript/Next.js application backed by gRPC/protobuf services</li><li>Drive design of data-access layers (BFF/API boundaries, caching, pagination, streaming) where payload size and memory pressure are real constraints</li><li>Set and enforce standards across a Turborepo monorepo: shared packages, versioning, build/CI performance, dependency hygiene</li><li>Lead technical design reviews; write the design docs and white papers that anchor them</li><li>Diagnose hard problems: memory exhaustion, render performance, pipeline issues</li><li>Mentor engineers across levels and enable the team to work faster</li><li>Work directly with customers and stakeholders to shape requirements, then decompose them into scoped, estimable work</li></ul>Required Education, Experience, & Skills <ul><li>6+ years building production software; 4+ in TypeScript/JavaScript and Node</li><li>Deep React experience, including performance profiling and state/data-fetching architecture at scale</li><li>Demonstrated ownership of system-level design decisions and their consequences</li><li>Strong written communication: design docs, technical proposals</li><li>Track record of mentoring and elevating other engineers</li><li>Comfort operating with ambiguity and defining the problem</li><li>Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (U.S. citizen)</li></ul>Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills <ul><li>gRPC / protobuf, especially large-payload or streaming scenarios</li><li>Turborepo, Nx, or comparable monorepo tooling</li><li>API design (REST, gRPC, BFF patterns) and versioning strategy</li><li>Agentic / LLM-assisted development workflows and tooling</li><li>Playwright or comparable E2E frameworks; test strategy across the pyramid</li><li>CI/CD pipeline design and build optimization</li><li>Data visualization at scale (AG Charts, D3, or similar)</li><li>Storybook and component library ownership</li><li>Wireframing and UX collaboration; comfort sketching a flow before building it</li><li>Defense, aerospace, or other regulated-environment experience</li></ul>#ECSSE Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $118095 - $200762 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
