Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer | Night Shift

ZigZag is looking for a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our team!About the RoleWe are looking for a strong, independent software engineer who understands that modern software development is about much more than writing code.With AI increasingly handling portions of implementation, we value developers who can understand business requirements, design practical technical solutions, leverage AI effectively, and take ownership of delivering reliable software.You will work on established, production business applications involving complex workflows, integrations, databases, and multiple interconnected systems.We are looking for someone who can think beyond an assigned ticket, understand the bigger picture, and make sound technical decisions.Key ResponsibilitiesTranslate business requirements into clear, practical technical solutions.Understand existing application architecture and how changes affect other components.Design and implement features across backend, frontend, and database systems.Use AI development tools effectively to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, and problem-solving.Critically evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.Identify missing requirements, potential risks, and better implementation approaches.Independently investigate issues and determine root causes.Take ownership of work from initial requirements through development, testing, and production release.Communicate progress, blockers, and technical decisions clearly.Technical RequirementsStrong experience with C#, .NET / ASP.NET Core, and REST APIs.Solid SQL and relational database knowledge, preferably PostgreSQL.Experience with React and modern frontend development.Understanding of application architecture, integrations, authentication, and data flows.Experience with Git, GitHub, pull requests, and code reviews.Familiarity with Azure or similar cloud environments.Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and agentic development tools.Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and testing skills.What Matters MostTechnical judgment: You can evaluate different approaches, understand tradeoffs, and recognize when a proposed solution is unnecessarily complicated or technically unsound.Business understanding: You seek to understand the actual user problem rather than simply implementing instructions literally.Systems thinking: You understand how applications, services, databases, and integrations fit together.AI proficiency: You know how to provide AI with the right context, direct its work, and validate its output rather than blindly accepting generated code.Independence and ownership: You can take a loosely defined requirement, ask the right questions, propose an approach, and deliver a working solution without constant supervision.Communication: You can clearly explain technical decisions, raise concerns early, and collaborate effectively with a US-based team.The Ideal CandidateWe are not looking for someone who simply writes code quickly or relies on AI to generate solutions they don't fully understand.We want a developer with solid engineering fundamentals who can use AI as a productivity multiplier while maintaining ownership of the technical decisions and final product.Experience working on complex, existing business applications is especially valuable.Requirements: 5+ years of professional software development experience, strong written and spoken English, and availability for some overlap with US Eastern Time working hours.ZigZag is committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
