Job Description:
Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering novel therapeutics for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a serious liver disease that can progress to cirrhosis, liver failure, need for liver transplantation and premature mortality. Every member of our Madrigal team is connected by our shared purpose: leading the fight against MASH. Madrigal’s medication, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), is a once-daily, oral, liver-directed THR-β agonist designed to target key underlying causes of MASH. Rezdiffra is the first and only medication approved by both the FDA and European Commission for the treatment of MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis (F2 to F3). An ongoing Phase 3 outcomes trial is evaluating Rezdiffra for the treatment of compensated MASH cirrhosis (F4c). Our success is driven by our people. We are building a dynamic, inclusive, and high-performing culture that values scientific excellence, operational rigor, and collaboration. To support our continued growth, we are strengthening our workforce strategy to ensure we have the right talent, at the right time, in the right way. The Associate Director, Market Access Analytics leads payer, formulary, and coverage analytics for Madrigal's Commercial organization, turning access and contracting data into insight that guides Market Access strategy for the MASH portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Director, Market Access, Trade & IDN Analytics, this role owns the payer analytics and reporting agenda — measuring formulary access, coverage, utilization management, and contract performance at national and sub-national levels — and serves as a trusted analytics partner to Managed Markets, Patient Services, Trade, and Finance. This individual translates complex payer dynamics into clear, actionable guidance for leadership and field teams. Role & Responsibilities Own and evolve the payer analytics and KPI framework across formulary access, coverage, utilization management, payer/channel segmentation mix, and contract performance — with consistent definitions and tracking at both national and local levels. Analyze formulary positioning, covered lives, payer policy trends, and PA/step-edit and other utilization-management dynamics; translate access challenges into strategic guidance for leadership and field teams. Develop analytics and reporting on payer channel performance, projected plan performance, and pull-through to inform short-term tactical decisions and long-term access strategy. Support gross-to-net, contract, and rebate analytics — including bid evaluation, break-even / return-on-contract scenarios, and the net-revenue impact of formulary access assumptions. Partner with Patient Services and Trade on copay/affordability program analytics and specialty pharmacy dynamics affecting patient access and the patient journey. Build and maintain executive-ready dashboards and reporting, and own mappings across formulary, claims, and projected-plan-performance data sources. Serve as a strategic analytics partner to Managed Markets, Patient Services, Trade, Finance, and the broader Commercial team, translating business questions into structured analyses. Partner with data enablement and IT to ensure robust data infrastructure for payer analytics, and manage relationships with access-data vendors. Qualifications Typical Degree & Years of Experience Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, business, or related field; advanced degree preferred. 8+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech commercial analytics experience, including dedicated experience in market access / payer analytics. Strong knowledge of access-related datasets (e.g., MMIT, DRG, claims, specialty pharmacy, distribution, and contracting data). Demonstrated ability to build KPI frameworks, dashboards, and executive-ready reporting. Hands-on proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau); Python a plus. Working knowledge of gross-to-net and contract/rebate analytics. Preferred Experience supporting specialty or rare disease brands, ideally through launch. Familiarity with patient services data and platforms (e.g., CoverMyMeds, ConnectiveRx, copay/hub data). Experience with gross-to-net and contracting platforms (e.g., Model N, MMIT, IntegriChain). Experience partnering with Managed Markets and field access teams. Skills & Competencies Ability to translate complex payer dynamics into clear, actionable insight for senior leaders and field teams. Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with attention to data accuracy and consistent definitions. Effective stakeholder management across a matrixed Commercial organization. Self-directed ownership of analytics projects end to end. Impact Gives Market Access leadership and field teams a clear, timely view of access and contract performance for the MASH portfolio. Strengthens payer and contracting decisions through rigorous, decision-ready analytics.
