In this role, you will build foundational technical skills while performing routine laboratory activities, supporting established assays, and maintaining accurate records under the guidance of experienced team members. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will help keep laboratory workflows organized, compliant, and on schedule.
As your proficiency grows, you will take on increasing autonomy and deepen your understanding of sample handling, data integrity, laboratory systems, and BioAgilytix quality expectations.
\nYour day-to-day responsibilities:
Perform routine laboratory support activities, including preparing reagents and buffers, labeling and organizing samples, setting up plates, pipetting, and completing basic equipment-readiness tasks.
Support established assay execution under detailed instruction and supervision, following approved methods, standard operating procedures, study protocols, and safety requirements.
Document work accurately, completely, and at the time it is performed in approved laboratory records and systems, including LIMS or other applicable electronic systems.
Promptly escalate deviations, atypical observations, equipment issues, documentation concerns, and potential safety or quality risks to senior staff or management.
Help maintain laboratory readiness through organization, consumable stocking, equipment cleaning, calibration checks, and related activities that support study timelines.
Learn and apply foundational regulated laboratory practices, including data integrity expectations, sample-handling requirements, and quality-system awareness.
Communicate task status, study-support needs, and routine observations clearly to peers, senior analysts, and supervisors.
Work with initial guidance and oversight, taking on greater autonomy as proficiency is demonstrated.
Perform other responsibilities based on laboratory and business needs.
Minimum preferred qualifications: Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in life sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
At least one year of relevant scientific experience.
An equivalent combination of directly relevant education, training, and experience may be considered in place of the stated requirements.
Minimum preferred qualifications: Skills
Foundational laboratory technique and the ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions accurately.
Foundational understanding of sample handling, laboratory safety practices, and data integrity principles.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and discipline in completing laboratory documentation.
Ability to learn laboratory systems, Microsoft Office applications, and regulated documentation practices.
Dependability and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a team-based laboratory environment.
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and computer skills.
What makes this role appealing:
This role offers a structured path for building a strong laboratory foundation. You will gain hands-on exposure to assay support, controlled documentation, laboratory systems, sample handling, and quality practices while learning from experienced colleagues.
Work environment and schedule:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with no direct supervisory responsibilities. Some flexibility in hours is available, but employees must be available during the core work hours published in the BioAgilytix Employee Handbook. Occasional evening, weekend, or holiday work may be needed based on study and business requirements.
The role is primarily laboratory-based, with occasional work in an office environment. It requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, lab coats, and gloves. Work may involve biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms, skin and lung irritants, toxic materials, hazardous waste, and, on rare occasions, fluctuating temperatures.
The position involves working in an upright or stationary position for up to eight hours per day; frequent movement, crouching, stooping, bending, and twisting; and repetitive hand and finger movements. It also involves lifting, carrying, or otherwise moving laboratory equipment, supplies, and a laptop computer weighing up to 20 pounds. The work requires regular use of computer software, clear exchange of information with diverse groups, sustained concentration, adaptability to changing demands, multitasking under pressure, and regular and consistent attendance.
