This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in public service, nonprofit management, environmental stewardship, or community development.

Duties & Responsibilities

While doing all of the following would not be possible given the internship hours per week, together we would pick and choose what you work across these areas.

Communications & Outreach

  • Create and curate editorial and/or visual content for social media, email, website, and marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers on communication strategies and storytelling.
  • Conduct interviews with FBH members, volunteers, partners, and donors as needed.
  • Track and report engagement metrics as requested.

Fundraising & Membership Support

  • Assist staff with donor stewardship tasks.
  • Help prepare materials for fundraising campaigns.
  • Support data entry, research, and reporting needs.

Volunteer Management & Program Support

  • Help coordinate volunteer communications, outreach, and scheduling.
  • Assist with program development tasks.
  • Support outreach to schools, partner groups, and community organizations.

Event Coordination

  • Provide support for planning and executing FBH events.
  • Assist with logistics, participant engagement, and post-event follow-up.

General Nonprofit Operations

  • Conduct research to support program development, advocacy, fundraising, or communications.
  • Assist staff with administrative tasks and special projects as needed.

General Qualifications / Skills

  • Interest in the Blue Hills specifically or environmental conservation and/or outdoor recreation in general.
  • Strong written, oral communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to gather and verify information from reliable online sources.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Access to a personal laptop (Mac or PC) and reliable internet connection.

Specific Skills (Preferred, Not Required)

  • Familiarity with major social media platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Canva, WordPress, or other digital content tools.

Internship Schedule & Length

  • Spring Term: January – May 2027
  • Expected commitment of 5–10 hours per week, with flexibility and perhaps some weekend event participation as intern’s schedule allows.
